Frequently Asked Questions

Accreditation and Academic Standards

Is Kairos Institute currently accredited?

Kairos Institute is in the process of obtaining full accreditation with AANWC and AANWP, organizations that set national standards for wellness, nutrition, and holistic education. Our projected timeline for full board accreditation is February 2026.

Until then, all courses and assessments have been developed in accordance with these professional standards, ensuring your completed coursework will meet board requirements upon full approval.

What does board certification mean?

Board certification reflects recognized training and competency in a specific professional discipline (such as holistic life coaching or functional nutrition). It confirms ethical readiness and mastery of best practices—but it is not a medical license.

Does this mean I can practice medicine or therapy?

No. Graduates are trained and certified as coaches, educators, and spiritual facilitators, not as medical or psychological practitioners. Certification enables professional service, not medical diagnosis or treatment.

Instead, graduates serve as facilitators of transformation—supporting clients in lifestyle, mindset, and spiritual growth under ethically defined guidelines. When appropriate, practitioners collaborate with licensed professionals, empowering clients to make informed, self-directed choices about their wellbeing.

Are my credits at KISS transferrable to another college or university?

While some certifications may offer credit for previous experience and training, our credits do not transfer to colleges and universities.

If you apply for a Certification or other Ecclesiastical studies program that offers credit for your past experience, transcripts and/or a letter of recommendation may be available to you. Please contact alumni@kairosinstitute.org

Scope of Practice & Professional Ethics

What is within my professional scope as a Kairos graduate?

Our practitioners provide holistic education, spiritual mentorship, and evidence-informed wellness guidance.

You may:

  • Support clients in goal setting and self-awareness.
  • Educate on nutrition, lifestyle, or mindfulness principles.
  • Use coaching tools to foster personal and spiritual growth.
  • Collaborate with clients’ medical professionals for wellness alignment.

You may not:

  • Diagnose or treat medical or mental conditions.
  • Prescribe supplements, medications, or protocols.
  • Present yourself as a licensed practitioner in psychology or medicine.
Will I be legally covered to coach after graduation?

Yes—with proper business setup and disclosure. Coaches operate ethically as independent professionals under the categories ofhealth and wellness educationorspiritual guidance. While state laws differ, most (including California and Texas) allow coaching within well-defined non-medical limits. KISS recommends all graduates carry liability insurance appropriate to their specialty.

How is ethical accountability ensured?

All students are educated under the AANWC Code of Ethics and the NBHWC Scope of Practice, emphasizing integrity, informed consent, evidence-based resources, and client safety.
